Self & Emergence

Editorial — 04.24.2018

"These images represent the fluidity and complexities of defining oneself through emergence, as well as breaking confines constructed within cultural and social domains. These images depict contemporary and abstract representations of Asian women through movement, color, and clothing. This concept is driven by the theory that identity is mutable and not necessarily unified or coherent; with the understanding that we have many versions of ‘self' within us. This series was created in an effort to visually explore different representations of self and the circumstances in which a woman may seek to ‘fix’ or transpire a particular identity that lives within her."
